Description - PM type 13 (JC-MN-RF) duplex with double concentric circles both sides – Right side NWP between circles and approximately 7 parallel bars within rising left to right with larger numerals without inset - making them sometimes difficult to determine – Left side with post office location between circles, and date within inner circle – often year is missing or obliterated.

In use North West Provinces (NWP), with Oudh excluded and Rajasthan included, active for a short period between 1872-74 Numbers for this PM type were allocated August 1871, earliest recorded date by Martin is 6th January 1872.  Despite its short-lived usage, quite a few numbered POs are known, 548 Ulwar being the highest recorded. A fairly common PM, although perfect complete examples on cover are considered fairly scarce. 

The earliest example found in this collection dates to March 1872, and 5th June 1874 seems the latest instance.
