India Lithograph QV 1854 SG21a 4a Red & Blue Pair w/Cert FU CV£16000

Provenance Ex-Kimber Auction 1956 lot 408 – Very few examples exist in a pair cut square so this fine example is Rare! Even with fractional top frame reduction of left side stamp it is one of the finest extant! – 3rd Printing Head Die II [die used in initial stage of third printing before head adjustment to Die IIIA transitional phase] Frame Die I [Later state of frame with recognisable 3rd Printing frame flaws for sheet position - In this case accompanied by 2015 clear BPA certificate stating 'Jatia Stone B' based on position 12 red flaws between lower frame lines below R & red dot inside inner pearls at 9 o’clock, & red flaw below right leg of 2nd A in ANNA] – Wide setting/spacing watermark position – 11 & 12 - However, the cert has the stone wrong due to the various lower frame similarities on position 12 of the B Stone & Jatia S4 stone. The problem is there are no easily verifyable frame flaws on posiiton 11 from the B stone. Position 11 on S4 Stone has a matching notable solid pearl above last lower left hatching and strengthened inner frame section on right where remainder of that section is weak. On both positions the frame characteristics match exactly the known pair on cover (see Jatia Plate XIII) with different head Die III!! Jatia Stone S4!

Close margins all round very slight reduced top left edge outer frame very fresh attractive example
